What is a Root Canal Treatment?

A root canal treatment is used to repair an infected tooth. A root canal is necessary when the pulp inside the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This usually happens when bacteria enters the inner portion of the tooth through damage to the enamel. To heal this infection, the pulp is removed. This will relieve pain and restore oral health. The inside of the tooth is then filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. After your treatment is complete, the tooth will be covered with a crown to provide strength and protection.

Does a Root Canal Hurt?

Getting a root canal treatment is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. We use local anesthesia to help ensure that your visit will be a comfortable and stress-free one. If you are concerned about discomfort, feel free to ask us about other sedation options.
